Big Data Meetup 02/06

Last night, the Sphere team was at the Big Data meetup. 5 contributors gave a great overview on the major impacts Big Data is having today. Peter Goldmacher / Cowan and Company,Russ Lankenau / MapR Technologies, Don Deloach / Infobright, Matt Asay / 10GEN, and Dr. Phil Shelley. Hadoop continues to make its presence wider though some have adopted it too quickly without establishing a solid business case for it. The discussion ranged from how the vendors viewed Big Data, candidly the value each brought and a caution against joining trends “blindly”. It was very insightful and we hope to see you next time!
